Brown Butter Crinkle Cookies
Oh, I wish I could remember where I got this recipe from. I'd just written it down to try and never noted where I actually found it. These are too good not to share.
Ingredients
10 tablespoons butter, sliced
2 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup light brown sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup powdered sugar
Instructions
- Place the butter in a saucepan and cook over medium heat until the butter melts and begins to foam. Continue to cook, whisking frequently until the butter becomes an amber color. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.
- Whisk together flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. Set aside.
- Add the granulated sugar and brown sugar into a mixer bowl fitted with the paddle attachment. Pour the cooled butter into the sugars and mix on medium speed to combine. Add in the eggs and vanilla, mixing just until smooth.
- Turn the mixer to low and slowly add in the flour mixture until just incorporated. Cover the mixing bowl and refrigerate for at least an hour.
- Preheat the oven to 350° F
- Line a baking sheet with a silicone mat or parchment paper and set aside.
- Place the powdered sugar in a shallow bowl. Form chilled dough into one inch balls or use a cookie scooper, then roll each into the powdered sugar and place on the prepared pan about two inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes for soft cookies or 18-22 for harder cookies.
- Allow the cookies to cool on the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a cooling rack.
